With the Reliant Business Degrees of Difference program, your business can earn bill credits for making small changes to reduce electricity usage. During certain times, such as when high electricity demand is anticipated, a Degrees of Difference event is called. During the event, you can make small changes to reduce your business’s electricity usage and receive a $0.60 bill credit for every kWh of electricity saved when compared to your typical usage.*

The Business Degrees of Difference program will alert you via email to an upcoming event, such as an anticipated period of high electricity demand, so you can reduce your usage. During the event, reduce your business's electricity usage by taking actions like adjusting the thermostat and holding off on using heavy machinery and large office equipment to help earn Degrees of Difference bill credits.
Participation in the Business Degrees of Difference program doesn’t affect your business's current Reliant electricity plan.
The bill credit will appear on your business's Reliant account within 2 billing cycles.
No special thermostat or equipment is required other than an electricity smart meter.
A few days after the specified reduction period, you’ll receive an email summarizing the usage reduction amount and any bill credit that was earned.

We’ll compare your business's actual kWh use during the requested hours to its average kWh use during those same hours over the previous 5 weekdays to determine the credit amount. For every kWh reduced during that time, you’ll earn a $0.60 bill credit. For example, a 10 kWh reduction in electricity consumption during requested hours, compared to your business's average kWh usage during the same hours over the previous 5 weekdays, would be equal to a $6 bill credit (10 kWh x $0.60 = $6.00).
You’ll receive an email request to reduce your electricity usage for an event. The situations that cause Reliant to request businesses to reduce electricity usage are typically unexpected, like a significant change in the weather forecast or an unplanned outage of generation. As a result, we usually have limited advance notice but attempt to notify customers of an event as soon as possible.
* Reliant determines a participant’s usage reduction by comparing actual kWh usage during the hours of requested reduction to the participant’s typical usage during the same time of day over the prior five weekdays. Participants with a usage reduction will receive a bill credit within two billing cycles following a specified reduction period.
